Vaughter’s Farm at Arabia Mountain Loop
I typically begin my sessions at Vaughter’s Farm before transitioning to Arabia Mountain. Starting at Vaughter’s Farm allows for capturing stunning golden field shots that are vibrant and radiant. Then, as the sunset approaches, we hit the trail to Arabia Mountain to capture the breathtaking backdrop of the colorful sky against the mountain’s.
Georgia’s Best Kept Secret: Arabia Mountain
I say this because this engagement photo spot offers more than just picturesque scenery. The Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area is an amazing destination for hiking, picnicking, tree climbing, biking, and a ton of other adventurous outdoor activities. Arabia Mountain is known for its stunning natural landscapes that truly take your breath away!
Hiking at Arabia Mountain for Engagement Photos
The majority of the trail winds through a smooth greenway, perfect for couples and dogs that are new to hiking! Once you get close to the top, stay left to reach the well known summit that allows you to see for miles in any direction!
Is there an incline to the top of Arabia Mountain?
Once you get to the end of the smooth greenway, there is a slight incline that brings you to the summit of Arabia Mountain. At this point there are no trail markers, which is why is important to work with a photographer that is familiar with the area and trail! How long does it take to get to the summit?
Expect to spend around 30 minutes hiking the 1.1-mile mountain view loop, factoring in breaks for candid engagement photos along the way. You can find more in-depth information regarding the elevation map, trail photos, and terrain map, here!
Do I have to pay for parking?
Parking is free of charge! You can park at the south parking lot, or at the Nature Center Lot. Yet, as golden hour attracts many visitors eager to catch the sunset from the mountaintop, I recommend arriving early to secure parking to avoid parking at the Nature Center Lot (an extra 1 mile walk from the trail). This strategy aligns perfectly with starting your photoshoot at Vaughter’s Farm before heading to the mountaintop for sunset shots.
What should I wear for my engagement photos?
I always tell couples to wear what makes them feel most comfortable! Since this trail is classified as “easy,” there’s room to prioritize both comfort and style. Take Payton, for instance; she chose a flowing white maxi dress for the hike and had no trouble navigating the trail! Nonetheless, I suggest wearing comfortable hiking shoes during the hike and then changing into your engagement shoes once you’ve reached the summit!
